SEEING CHANGE (PHOTOVOICE)

A Photographic story of changing landscape from the Limestone Coast

Submissions are now open for the Limestone Coast community to share stories of how they and their families, business and/or primary production has been affected by a change in landscape over time across the region.

An initiative of the Limestone Coast Local Government Association (LCLGA) Climate Adaptation Committee, “Seeing Change (PhotoVoice) Project” aims to explore and collate first-hand experiences of how people, business and/or primary production has been impacted by a changing landscape over a period of time.

The photographic story of change from the region will provide valuable insight into how our communities cope with future change when it come to the impacts of changing landscapes. This can help inform the development of emergency preparedness strategies and improve the resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related risks in the Limestone Coast.

LCLGA Project Officer Prae Wongthong says it’s about sharing the stories and first-hand experiences and knowledge with the community through photographs and short videos.‘We don’t just want beautiful photos, we want to exhibit real life, first hand experiences’.

Participants are encouraged to get involved by searching for photos (before and after) showing how landscapes/ places/ people have changed over time due to the change in climate and landscape. You may find them in your house, from your dear ones, or go out and take one by yourself. Then its about sharing the stories about how change might have affected you and your family, business or farm.

Additional information can be found by contacting the Limestone Coast Local Government Association, with registrations closing 15th February 2019. Selected photographs will then be showcased in an Art Exhibit throughout the Limestone Coast local art galleries in early 2019.
